Elsavie was born from the desire to make people's lives better. The roots of this story reach back to the Centre of Food and Fermentation Technologies (TFTAK), where Estonian scientists have been dedicatedly researching nutrition and biotechnology since 2004, helping both local and international companies.

At one point, the scientists' focus turned to a new and exciting world—the microbes that live in our bodies, or the microbiome. It is there, in the depths of the gut, that the answers lie that affect our immunity, energy, body weight, chronic diseases, and even our mood.

In 2005, TFTAK completed a unique digestive tract simulator, which allowed scientists to observe and understand digestive processes exactly as they actually occur in our bodies. The knowledge gained over the years led to a microbiome analysis service in 2016, which opened the door for people to understand their inner world.

The studies revealed something surprising yet logical: our overall well-being begins in the gut. Modern people often get too little fiber from their diet, yet these are vital for the good bacteria in our gut. When there is balance in the gut, it is reflected in the health of the entire body.

With this knowledge-driven mission, the scientists decided to create something that would help people easily enrich their daily diet. This led to the creation of science-based fiber blends, whose composition is carefully selected based on research results to support the diversity and vitality of our gut bacteria.

Elsavie, in turn, is the next step—a step that moves from the lab into people's daily lives. In the spring of 2020, Elsavie separated into an independent company to focus on how to make science easily accessible to people on a daily basis and help them make choices that support long-term well-being.
